Just a Poet with a Dream
Stephanie is a poet from Fontana, CA (Tongva Land) currently living on occupied Ohlone land (otherwise known as Oakland, CA). Her poetry explores a lineage of displacement through speculative testimony, audio transcriptions, and written recollections. Stephanie has been working on her first multimedia poetry manuscript, Open Door Behind You, a genealogy of generational trauma, memory, and dysfunctionality. The experimental writing in this manuscript examines what it means to inherit trauma and the ways in which it affects memory and the histories we pass down. She is a former Hugo House Fellow and LitFuse Scholar. Stephanie holds an MFA in Creative Writing and Poetics from the University of Washington, Bothell.
About The Blog
I started this blog to begin documenting my writing journey and to hopefully include resources for other writers to use and other random musings. I write a lot about family and how intergenerational trauma changes the way we move through the world. I’m fascinated by collective memory and untold stories. I hope this blog will bring you some spark of creativity when you’re not feeling it (which is me most of the time) and makes you feel less alone as a person, poet, artist – or whoever you are.
